Fast Business Loans for UK Businesses
When a business needs funding quickly, the useful question is not just “how fast?” but “fast at which stage?” Getting a decision and having money arrive are different steps, and different parties control them.
This page explains what “fast” can mean in a business loan application and what may add time. Tell Wize Finance what you need and when, and we’ll review your circumstances and discuss which routes may fit your timescale.
Tell us the amount, what it's for and your timescale. The team reviews your enquiry and talks you through options; timing always depends on the lender.

What a Fast Business Loan means
“Fast business loan” is not a separate type of lending. It describes business borrowing where speed is an important priority for the company. “Fast” describes how quickly the process may move. It does not define the repayment term, what the funding is for, whether security is taken or which lender product is used. Those depend on the lender and the product.
Speed, term and purpose are separate
- How quickly?
Fast
describes how quickly the process may move.
- How long?
Short term
describes how long the borrowing is repaid over. The repayment term is separate from speed and varies by product and lender. See Short-Term Business Loans.
- What for?
Working capital
describes what the funding is used for: the day-to-day running costs of the business. See Working Capital Loans.
A business may need working capital urgently, and a short-term facility may also be processed quickly, but speed, term and purpose remain separate characteristics.
Fast does not mean unsecured
Security depends on the lender and the product, not on how quickly a case moves. Depending on the product, a lender may request security over company assets, a personal guarantee from one or more directors, neither, or another arrangement. Where security or personal guarantee documentation is required, there may be additional steps before funds can be released.
For how each works, see Unsecured Business Loans and Secured Business Loans.
Speednot on how quickly a case moves
Depending on the product, a lender may request
- security over company assets
- a personal guarantee from one or more directors
- neither
- another arrangement
What “fast” can refer to: from enquiry to payout
A business loan moves through several stages. “Fast” can describe any one of them, and a case can move through one stage quickly while another takes longer.
Wize Finance's part
Enquiry. The business tells Wize Finance about the company and the funding requirement.
Review. Wize Finance reviews the information to understand the requirement.
Introduction. Where appropriate, Wize Finance introduces the business to a funding provider.
After you submit your details, the Wize Finance team reviews your enquiry and contacts you to discuss your funding needs and next steps. Where appropriate, your details can then be shared with a suitable funding provider.
The lender's part
Assessment. The lender looks at the application against its own criteria.
Checks. The lender carries out credit or other checks where applicable.
Further information. The lender may ask for documents or answers to specific questions.
Decision. The lender makes its lending decision. An offer may carry conditions.
Agreement. The business reviews and signs the agreement, along with any security or personal guarantee documentation.
Payout. Funds are released once the lender’s conditions are met, subject to the lender’s and banks’ processing.
Wize Finance controls only its own part of the journey.
The lender controls underwriting, the lending decision and payout.
What about “same day” and “instant”?
A business looking for a “same day” or “instant” business loan is usually asking whether a decision, or the money itself, can arrive very quickly. That cannot be assumed. Actual timing may depend on:
- the lender and product
- the information supplied
- the lender’s underwriting
- credit checks
- any security or personal guarantee requirements
- documents
- signing the agreement
- bank and payment processing
- how complex the case is
What may help avoid unnecessary delays
No preparation guarantees a faster decision or faster funding; each lender works to its own process. Having the following ready may help a case move without avoidable gaps:

Factors that may add time
Some cases need more work at one or more stages. Factors that may add time include:
- incomplete or inconsistent information
- financial information that needs updating or clarifying
- company details that do not match public records
- existing borrowing that needs closer review
- credit history that needs further underwriting
- complex ownership structures
- additional questions from the lender
- less standard or more complex requests
- security valuation or legal work, where applicable
- personal guarantee documentation, where applicable
None of these means a case will necessarily take longer.
How much each one matters depends on the lender and the circumstances. If any apply to you, it's worth raising them when you enquire.
Speed, cost and choosing the right structure
When funding is urgent, speed naturally matters. The fastest available route is not automatically the most suitable one, though, and the terms of the borrowing still shape what the business commits to. Before going ahead, it helps to be clear on:
- the total amount repayable
- the repayment term
- how often repayments are made
- any fees
- whether security is required
- whether a personal guarantee is required
- whether the product actually matches the underlying need
What affects cost
Speed alone does not set the cost of borrowing. Cost may depend on the lender, the product, the amount, the repayment term, the lender’s risk assessment, any security and any fees. When looking at an offer, useful points to compare are:
Offer A
- total amount repayable
- interest rate and APR, where applicable
- fees
- repayment term
- repayment frequency
- early-repayment terms
When a different structure may fit the need
Sometimes the need itself points to a different kind of funding:
-
a recurring or unpredictable funding need may suit revolving access, such as a Business Line of Credit
-
where cash is tied up in unpaid invoices, Invoice Finance releases funds against those invoices rather than lending a separate amount
-
a business with regular card or revenue takings may consider a revenue-linked structure such as a Merchant Cash Advance, which has its own pricing and repayment mechanics
Fast Business Loans: frequently asked questions
How quickly can a business loan be arranged?
There is no single answer. Timing depends on the lender, the product, the information provided, any checks and documents, signing the agreement and payment processing. Different stages can move at different speeds, so it helps to ask which stage a timescale refers to.
Can a business loan be arranged the same day?
Same-day decisions or funding can’t be assumed. Even where a lender makes a decision quickly, conditions, documents, signing and bank processing may still need to happen before money arrives. If you’re working to a deadline, tell us when the money is needed and we can talk through what each stage may involve.
What does “instant business loan” mean?
The phrase is usually used to describe a quick response at an early stage, such as an initial eligibility check or an indication from a lender. It does not mean funds arrive instantly, and any lending decision still follows the lender’s own assessment.
Does fast mean short term?
No. Fast describes how quickly the process may move. The repayment term is separate from speed and varies by product and lender. For more on how a shorter repayment period affects borrowing, see Short-Term Business Loans.
Are fast business loans more expensive?
Not because of speed alone. Cost may depend on the lender, product, amount, term, risk assessment, security and fees. Comparing the total amount repayable gives a clearer picture than comparing headline rates.
Will applying affect my credit file?
It depends on the checks used and the stage at which they happen. Lenders may check the company, its directors or both, and whether a check on a director is visible on their personal credit file depends on the type of search.
Are fast business loans secured or unsecured?
Either may be possible, depending on the lender and product. A lender may also ask for a personal guarantee. Speed does not determine the security structure.
How Wize Finance works
Wize Finance uses the information you provide to understand the funding requirement and, where appropriate, introduces the business to a funding provider. The lender assesses the application and makes the lending decision.

Credit searches
Different lenders and products may use different credit checks at different stages, and these may involve the company, its directors or both. Whether a check on a director leaves a visible footprint on their personal credit file depends on the type of search used. Business credit assessment does not necessarily follow the same “soft” and “hard” terms used for personal credit.
